We have all had to face obstacles throughout our life, whether these were minor challenges or major setbacks. Most people want to know how to achieve their goals, how to take action, how to live an extraordinary life, what they rarely ask is how to overcome obstacles.
So you have decided what you want and made a plan for how to get there. Before you pat yourself on the back for a job well done, you are missing one integral part to goal setting and goal achievement...WHY.
My alarm sounds at 6am. Still drowsy and half asleep I desperately want to roll over to hit snooze but but I am suddenly reminded of a passage I read the night before: "Every time you hit the snooze button, you're in a state of resistance to your day, to your life, and to waking up and creating the life you say you want." - Hal Elrod The Miracle Morning
24...the finite number of hours we all have in the day. We cannot increase the amount of hours but we can increase our productivity in those hours.
So far in the 'Cultivate a Winning Mindset Series' we have focused on the internal source of developing a winning mindset. We discussed 'Beliefs' and 'The Power of Thoughts & Affirmations'. Our mindset is the most important factor in determining our level of success and happiness. Everything stems from the internal.
What made Muhammad Ali or Michael Jordan so great?
Obviously they were both immensely talented and worked extremely hard. They demanded more of themselves than anyone else. But so many other athletes had immense talent and worked very hard.
What I believe made these two incredible athletes so special was their mindset.
So you know what you want, you have a clear vision. Now what?
As I mentioned in my last post 'Success starts with a clear vision' everything starts with knowing what you want. True lasting and fulfilling success in any area of your life requires a clear picture of what that success looks like.
Zeal starts with having you define what your ideal life looks like in the following areas: Craft, Health, Relationships, Lifestyle, Personal goals, Rewards, and Philanthropic.
If you are serious about changing the quality of your life then you must start with your beliefs. The beliefs you hold about the world and yourself shape your reality. Your beliefs define who you are. Everything that you have or do not have in your life can be traced to your beliefs. Your level of success is directly related to your beliefs.
For the next few weeks I am going to be digging deep into the mindset. Your mindset is everything. Your mindset is the most important factor in your level of success.
For a lot of people there is a disconnect with goal setting. We constantly hear how powerful setting goals is, how the most successful people all set goals. But can something as simple as writing down what I want on a piece of paper really create the level of change and success I want?
Goal Setting is one of the most important skills that you can develop. The act of writing your goals on paper in a specific, measurable and actionable manner is critical to achieving success.
Why is this?
Our brains are a goal-seeking organism. By giving our brain a concrete goal with a timeline our subconscious mind will work day and night to achieve the goal. Goal setting is critical to success but it is only one of the many tools that are essential to success.
